Logic Editorial Review
** Logic for Mathematicians (2nd Edition)** "Logic for Mathematicians" remains a respected resource for those delving into mathematical logic, appealing particularly to students and self-learners. Readers have found the book accessible, with clear and formal explanations that simplify the complex realms of formal logical systems and predicate calculus. Many users have praised its readability, especially for early concepts, making it an excellent companion for those overwhelmed by denser texts, such as Elliott Mendelson's "Introduction to Mathematical Logic." The strength of the book lies in its practical examples, which clarify intricate or poorly defined concepts, aiding comprehension. However, despite the early clarity, some readers have noted a decline in readability in the later chapters. Additionally, while the text is straightforward and offers a comprehensive overview, there are several mentions of typographical errors that detract from the learning experience, particularly in later chapters where the material is already challenging. Moreover, there are concerns regarding its price relative to quality, as one reviewer felt it was excessively priced given the errors present. Although some readers found the author’s explanations occasionally muddled, the overall response is largely positive, especially for beginners in the field. In summary, "Logic for Mathematicians" is valued for its approachable style and thorough treatment of fundamental topics in mathematical logic, making it an excellent choice for self-study despite noted flaws. **
