Bu tanımı daha da genişletirsek akıl yürütme, eldeki verilerden yola çıkarak mantıklı genellemelerde ve çıkarımlarda bulunma süreci olduğu söylenebilir. Akıl yürüten bir kişi yaşantıları, gözlemleri, okudukları, duydukları, inceledikleri sonucunda mantığa dayalı çıkarımlarda bulunur. Örneğin bir kişinin izlediği filmin ilerlemesine göre filmin nasıl sonlanacağına ilişkin fikir ve görüş geliştirmesi, bir dedektifin elde ettiği gözlem ve verilere göre suçu işleyen kişinin kim olabileceğine ilişkin çıkarımda bulunması, birer akıl yürütme örneğidir. 2013-2014 öğretim yılından itibaren MEB zekâ oyunları dersi ile çocuklarda akıl yürütme becerilerinin geliştirilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Zekâ oyunları gerçek problemleri de kapsayan, her türlü problemin oyunlaştırılmış halidir. Bu yüzden problem çözmeyi öğretmek için kullanılacak iyi bir araçtır. Zekâ oyunları dersi öğrencilerin problemleri algılama ve değerlendirme kapasitelerinin geliştirilmesini, farklı bakış açıları oluşturabilmelerini, problemle karşılaştıklarında hızlı ve doğru karar verebilmelerini, bir konuya ve çözüme odaklanma alışkanlığı geliştirmelerini, akıl yürütme ve mantığı etkili bir şekilde kullanma kapasitelerini geliştirmelerini sağlayacaktır (MEB). Akıl yürütme oyunları, verilen ipuçlarını değerlendirerek ve yalnızca mantıksal çıkarımlar yaparak sonuca ulaşılan, çoğunlukla tek kişilik bulmaca tarzındaki oyunlardır (MEB). Bu kitapta ülkemizde literatürde henüz olmayan diyagramdaki okların sırasına göre yolumuzu belirlediğimiz ve yazar tarafından “Okdoku” adı verilen oyun tanıtılmış ve yüzlerce etkinlik örneği ile akıl yürütme ve mantık becerilerini geliştirmeniz hedeflenmiştir.
