Includes display stand. Officially licensed product. This model does not have any openings. Manufacturer's original unopened packaging. Dimensions approximately Length- 5.5, Wingspan- 7.75 inches. Diecast metal and plastic construction for durability and a heavy, realistic feel. It is a highly detailed and accurate model, perfect for collectors and enthusiasts of military history. Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels, and surface details for an authentic representation of the real-life airplane. HISTORY ASPECTS: The Aichi D3A1 Type 99 Model 11, commonly known as the Val, was a dive-bomber used by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service (IJNAS) during World War II. One of the most infamous moments in its history occurred on December 7, 1941, during the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. PO3c Tokuji Iizuka piloted one of the Vals launched from the aircraft carrier Akagi, participating in the devastating assault that brought the United States into World War II. The Val was a key element of Japan's carrier-based air power, playing a crucial role in early Pacific War campaigns. Its design allowed for precision dive-bombing attacks on naval and ground targets. The Pearl Harbor raid showcased the effectiveness of the Val in coordinated strikes. Beyond Pearl Harbor, Vals were employed in various battles and campaigns across the Pacific, including the Battle of Midway and the Guadalcanal campaign. This 1:72 scale model authentically captures the Aichi D3A1 Type 99 Model 11 as flown by PO3c Tokuji Iizuka from the Akagi during the pivotal events of December 7, 1941.
