Is it hard to separate these boards and leave a smooth edge?
responder: Not in my experience - it was a nice clean break. I did think it was a bit sharp as an edge, so I just brushed it quickly with a little sandpaper on the end to round out it out. -

Do you need to solder the switches on or can you swap them?
responder: You have to solder the switches. But desoldering to swap is not difficult
