Our Tris-Acetate-EDTA buffer contains 2M Tris, 1M Acetic acid with 0.05M EDTA, providing excellent electrical conductivity and maintaining the pH during electrophoresis.

The EDTA present in the buffer chelates divalent cations, inhibiting metal-dependent nucleases and protecting DNA from degradation during electrophoresis, for optimal results. Our Acetate-EDTA buffer may be used for both genomic and large supercoiled DNA, and as a gel preparation buffer. It is perfect for DNA fragment analysis, nucleic acid separation, DNA extraction, and genomic DNA isolation.

With a lower buffering capacity than TBE buffer, periodic replacement of the buffer during prolonged electrophoresis is recommended. However, dsDNA runs faster with TAE buffer than TBE. Our 50X concentrated TAE buffer should be diluted with molecular biology grade water to 1X before use.
