The book Scythe is a dystopian novel by Neal Shusterman that explores the concept of a world without death and the need for Scythes, whose role is population control by selecting individuals for "gleaning." The story follows the two apprentices, Citra and Rowan, who initially do not want the job, but eventually become perfect for it. Reviewers praise the novel's world-building, original concept, and unpredictable plot, with readers expressing their intrigue in anticipation of the next book. The book's handling of themes such as mortality, love, and mystery also drew attention. However, critics pointed out that the character development could have been stronger, particularly in regard to the main characters, who lacked enough interaction to provoke emotional attachment.
