Hermetizm, Tanrı'ya, bilgeliğin üç bölümünün evreni şekillendirdiği nihai ve aşkın bir güç olarak yaklaşan büyük bir felsefi temeli kendi içinde barındırır. Simya, Astroloji ve Teurji, özünde, birçok Batı felsefesinin de üzerine inşa edildiği, bedenselden maneviyata doğru bir yolculuğu anlatır. Hermes'in kendisi de bu üç bilgelik sütunundan ''Trismegistus''-Üç Kez Büyük adını almıştır. Bu Kitap, Musa'nın zamanından birkaç yüzyıl önce yazılmış olan dünya daki tüm Kitaplar arasında antik çağda ilk sıraya aday olabilir, ben de bunu düzeltmeye çalışacağım. Orijinali (bizim bildiğimiz kadarıyla) Arapçadır ve Yunanca, Latince, Fransızca, Flemenkçe vb. dillerinde çeşitli tercümeleri yayınlanmıştır, ancak daha önce hiç İngilizce olarak yayınlanmamıştır. Yazık ki Bilgin Çevirmen (Dr.Everard) hayatını kaybetti ve bu onuru yaşarken alamadı ve bu kadar sonsuz değere sahip bir kitabı Orijinalinden Ana dillerine tercüme etme konusundaki iyi niyetinden ve zahmetlerinden dolayı İngilizler ona teşekkür ediyor.
